Sorry for the inked page – the weekend was busier than I expected! I’ll upload the finished version soon. And Chezhnian will have a con report for you next update.
To new readers who found us at Katsucon – welcome, and thanks for coming! We hope you enjoy the ride!
(EDIT: Finished page uploaded.)

I hope Kip’s horse has a gentle bit, its mouth is getting yanked quite a bit (or is it just twitchy because of an inexperienced rider? I wonder if it can sense that she’s not quite a normal human, or are Tamuran horses used to that?).
I’m jealous that you get to go to Cons, they sound like a perfect antidote to February-itis!
Kip does seem to yank on her horse a lot. Luckily for it and the other horses they have the mildest bits available. Loose ring snaffle bits would be the modern equivalent. These particular horses have been trained within a inch of their lives to accept a multitude of different, odd, and sometimes frightening (at least in a horse’s mind) situations. They are used to having many different riders on their backs.
I would say that it is mostly Kip’s jarring lack of experience that the horse is reacting to rather than her being not quite human.
Thanks! Now we know the horses aren’t just grain-powered bicycles, I have to start thinking about THEM too… :-)
they ARE SO grain-powered bicycles. >.>
Wow, killing a Morphus, no less, and without talking to Kip about whether they would necessarily be loyal to the other side. Harsh situation, harsh decisions. I get it, but another 30 seconds to get a key question answered wouldn’t have made a difference.
Certainly conveys the mood, though.
But it might have done – after all, they’re telepathic with their partners, aren’t they?
Yes, they are. It’s probably already too late if they’d been spotted.
Speaking of; Kip. You were already betrayed once. Don’t you think MAYBE you should learn this word called ‘suspicion’ and what it means?
Good point. Forgot about the telepathy.
