For those interested in the comic-making process, this is basically the extent of the inking that I do with a dip pen and ink. After this I’ll go in with micron pens to add textures and make some of the lines thicker to define contour and shadow better, and use a brush pen to fill in Kip’s hair. Then it’ll all get shaded with pencils and scanned back in.

Unless I miss my guess, and it’s likely others have guessed this, I’m betting that’s Kip’s snake friend.

Ah, but if the snake’s human is still alive, isn’t he bound to his snake form? That was the implication of Kip’s back story, that she was bound to lemur form until her companion died, and only then did she get to revert to her human form and also take on snake/bat/cat/bird form… Or have I misunderstood?
Hmm. I think you’re right. Which means the hawk would either be an unbound Morphus, or one of the assaulting nation of sorcerers.
Or one of the royal guards (who are apparently mostly on the older Princes’ team) has a bound morphus companion who’s a hawk – we’ve seen the big cat and the snake, and aren’t there others drawn in teeny with the guards escorting the Princes when they were going through town, when Nashua jumped off the roof to talk to them?
I’d have to go back and check.
Chapter 1 page 19 – there’s a wolf, and I think one of the ones behind the princes has a hawk on his shoulder. So that’s an option… prob’ly more like to be a sorceror though?
All the Zharus Guard have morphyx companions – not all of them have been shown, though you can find a few hanging around in the background in scenes where any of the three princes is out in the city. And yes, if their companion is alive they’re stuck in the form they’re in.

Ugh. Katsucon is messing with my brain. I had a dream last night I was trying to teach people in various costumes how to ride horses, but somehow got trapped in an elevator with Kip(from here) and Germany(From Hetaila).

I did have a good time. The whole thing was pretty cool, and I ended up with cat ears >.< I went to a hibachi restaurant (called Nikko's) afterwards and they kept calling me "kitten" in Japanese. I wasn't sure how to respond, so I just smiled and took it =.=
