Are Tu-Nauls in bounded Morphus form able to kill each other (and what would the reaction be from the other Tu-Nauls) and, more important, are they able to hide their feelings ? This mindreading stuff actually begs the question how much is transmitted during the conversation. Only words or also emotions so the receiver can tell if something is off ?

SteelRaven on October 25, 2016 @ 3:06 PM Reply

I guess it works like chat, different channels for different people otherwise every conversation would be like shouting in a crowded room.

Eren on October 25, 2016 @ 4:34 PM Reply

Yep.

Eren on October 25, 2016 @ 4:32 PM Reply

Morphyx killing each other would be regarded the same way as any other murder, I imagine. It would depend on the person as to whether their individual reaction is along the lines of “how DARE you harm one of your own kind!” or not. I’d have to ask Chezhnian about what the legal repercussions in Kalanthilas would be.

The conversation is like talking to someone on the phone. You get whatever emotion is conveyed in their voice (and body language, since they’re standing right there). So if the other party is bad at hiding their emotions and you’re good at reading people, you’d probably be able to get a lot from them. Directly being able to sense emotions is more of a morphus-companion bond thing.

Thanks, that clears it up.

Perhaps another question:
Is consciousness and an directed effort of will necessary to initiate contact ?
Could a morphus and his companion share a dream while both are
sleeping, so that e.g. the companion has a nightmare and screams for
help in the dream (but is completely soundless in reality) and the morphus
wakes up by the dream call ?

Eren on November 1, 2016 @ 5:53 AM Reply

It’s possible. Depends on the morphus-companion pair.

Chezhnian on October 27, 2016 @ 10:58 AM Reply

Murder is not common in Kalanthilas. WHEN it does happen, the convicted are banished to the ‘mortal realm’ and never allowed to return. There is no capital punishment in Kalanthilas, though many Tu naul might look at banishment as a death sentence.

Oh hey, Sheru finally shows up!

Eren on October 25, 2016 @ 4:39 PM Reply

Hah, yeah, I did draw him in the one Livestream, didn’t I.

Casanova on October 25, 2016 @ 5:08 PM Reply

Not in that one I was present in, that I can recall. I just remembered the pieces from last page’s comments and took a guess.

Thanks for confirming! :D

Glass on October 26, 2016 @ 5:08 PM Reply

It’s cute how Morgen can tell when his morphus is complaining about his recklessness :3 Shows how close these two really are.

NaNoWriMo is always a lot of fun – somehow work/life always gets really busy for me from about… November 5th to the end of November – just enough time to get into the writing before I completely run out of time to do any more writing. The amount first chapters I’ve written…

What about you Eren/Chezhnian – any Wrimoing next month?

Chezhnian on October 27, 2016 @ 11:01 AM Reply

I usually don’t participate just cause I am so busy at this time of the year. Though this November looks like it might actually be slow for me, so I am contemplating it.

Eren on November 1, 2016 @ 6:30 AM Reply

I’ve been thinking about rebooting one of my older unfinished NaNo novels, this time doing more plotting and outlining beforehand. I haven’t had time to do all the planning I wanted to do, though, so we’ll see.

I hear you about the first chapters, hah. Though it’s usually the first week or so that’s really busy for me, so I end up spending the rest of the month scrambling to get words in and never get to the end of the story…

Kat on October 27, 2016 @ 10:48 AM Reply

The hawk is gorgeous! <3 You drew it so well *-*
Also yep! First time WriMo-ing this year!
(I'm kind of terrified)

Eren on November 1, 2016 @ 6:51 AM Reply

Thanks!

And good luck! It’s a good sort of terrifying, I hope. Try not to be too intimidated by the numbers, and focus on having fun (…is the advice I would give. I’ll be trying to remember to follow it, myself…)

Kat on November 3, 2016 @ 9:18 PM Reply

Heh, thanks! I assume you’re doing NaNoWriMo too? Good luck with it, then!

Eren on November 8, 2016 @ 3:35 AM Reply

Thanks. I’d planned to reboot one of my older novels for this year’s NaNo, but I haven’t had time to get much written so far.
