Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves……….subverted, I guess. It now looks like selective memory editing.

He’s still a traitor though.

Denita TwoDragons on September 7, 2016 @ 8:24 PM Reply

He may not realize he is, or he may have had been convinced that they were the “traitors” and was trying to do what he thought was the “right” thing. There’s certainly a lot more to this than meets the eye, and somehow I have a feeling he’s a lot more sympathetic.

Interesting, your comment has made me think of another possibility that didn’t occur to me previously; in that Captain Owings, the prince’s detail and the rest of the guard (and their Tu Naul companions) were/are under a mass brainwashing spell that would make them perpetrate the acts of treason/murder that happened during the coup. It could be that the pain from Johlan breaking Owings’ hand, like Short Round burning Indy with the torch, has broken the curse. The idea that Owings is under a bewitchment makes the most sense in explaining the combination of the acts of betraying and murdering the king he swore an oath to, and the humanization he recieved on pages one, three and four of ch. sixteen. We shall see just what the situation is soon enough.

If the Zharus Guard outside Namridia are not under any spell and are as honourable and loyal as they have been made out to be, then Captain Owings and his fellow guards names will be Mud. (at least Captain Ow!-ings has been living up to his name the last few pages.)

Is it just me, or does the doctor have a nasty look on his face in the last panel? Maybe he’s a Inikis sorcerer in disguise.

Denita TwoDragons on September 8, 2016 @ 5:42 PM Reply

Great point! In fact, that makes even more sense!
I have no doubt this will all come to light soon. Now can we wait patiently long enough, that’s the real question…? *sits on edge of seat twitching with anticipation*

Denita TwoDragons on September 11, 2016 @ 9:01 PM Reply

Well now that’s weird…this was meant for the conversation a little further up. Why did it end up here…?

WordPress might have screwed up because both comments being replied to were made by the same poster…(?) Unfortunately it won’t let me edit which comment yours is replying to, but I can delete these if you want to re-post it in the right place.

It’s how the eyebrows are drawn (and JUST the eyebrows. The rest of the face is pleasant looking.)

Is anyone going to ask where they get the ice? Doc Brown’s magical Ice machine? Ice Wizard?

Glass on September 8, 2016 @ 4:46 PM Reply

I was wondering about that too, actually :D But sice there is magic in this universe, I suppose they can conjur some ice…

Also, have we seen the doctor before?

Lady Philyra on September 10, 2016 @ 5:14 AM Reply

Before humans invented freezers and ice makers, ice was cut from lakes and ponds in the winter. It was stored in barn-type buildings insulated with a thick layer of straw – no magic required.
